| Oak and mahogany bookcases
with glass-front doors which lift up and slide back into the bookcase.
Globe-Wernicke bookcases are among the
most sought after in history. The Globe-Wernicke Co. has been supplying
sectional bookcases to the individual and establishments for over 115
years. Invented in 1889 by Otto H.L. Wernicke and subsequently patented on
the 6th of December 1892 these sectional bookcases have a stylish and
timeless design.
For sale are SIX STACKS of bookcases
comprising a total of 35 sectional shelves. Twenty-one of the sections are
the large 12" shelves, and fourteen are the regular 10" shelves.
Because they are modular, you can stack them as high or short as you
please.
These stacks were part of my father's
law office from around 1950 until 1971, and then were part of his office
as a Texas state district judge and court of appeals judge until 1985. I
do not know how old the bookcases were when my father acquired them. The
bookcases are in very good condition. He removed the doors from two
shelves for easy access to oft-used books, and two shelves need new glass
- an easy repair.
The photo at right is a generic photo
off the internet, and the photo below shows one of the actual bookcases
being sold. The rest are in storage and have not been photographed. As you
can see, some of the shelves have been used to house the model cars I
built in high school many years ago. They are great for displaying
collectibles in a dust-free and easily accessible case.
The six stacks have been professionally
appraised at approximately $13,200, and it is our intention to sell them
as one lot to someone who wants to create an impressive library of these
bookcases. Offered at $10,000 or best offer. Pickup in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas
area. |
